Robert Louis Stevenson Middle School in Saint Helena needed to replace its cinder track and deteriorating turf field with an all-weather synthetic option. Winter use was impossible due to muddy conditions and gopher infestations, which created holes and mounds that posed safety hazards for participants. The school also wanted to add field events so students wouldn’t have to go to the high school for practice.
The project was installed between 2023 & 2024 and a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the start of the scholastic year in August. The project featured two ramp systems for better accessibility to the campus and public areas, along with a new drinking fountain, bicycle racks, low-water planting, and a reconfigured utility yard.
A grand new sign sits in the landscape at mid-field proclaiming ‘RLS Field - Home of the Blue Devils’: a crowning touch to the new facility.
