As part of a design/build competition, Carducci Associates created a landscape solution for the Joint-Use 21st-Century Post Secondary Education Center, shared by San Jose Evergreen Community College District and Milpitas Unified School District. Designed to support teaching and learning by integrating nature into the Center, the landscape encourages activity and interaction in a variety of outdoor areas with the potential to adapt to future uses, such as a “genetic” garden or study lab. By managing storm water and using rainwater and reclaimed water, as well as new irrigation technology and low-water native plants, we were able to create a sustainable landscape that celebrates our natural resources.
