Named one of the Bay Area’s five best playgrounds by the San Francisco Chronicle, Giorgi Park also received an Award of Excellence from the California Park and Recreation Society. Carducci Associates provided a master plan and construction documents for the park, which was expanded from 2.5 to 3.9 acres with new park-to-neighborhood connections. The plan provided for turf and picnic areas, two new play areas, a custom acorn playhouse and a water element inspired by the Russian River watershed and its endemic fauna. New basketball and bocce ball courts, shade structures, art benches, and a parking lot were created while preserving all existing trees on the site.
